Working with Book Pages and Books

What are Books and Book Pages?
Books are amazing innovation of modern Content Management Systems world and Drupal has pioneered in this area. Books in Drupal are very easy.
Book is a set of pages, kept together and Book navigation has all the amazing features of going between the pages Back, Forward and Upwards along the nested pages. Books could have multiple child pages and even other books. The only difference between creating a Page and a Book Page is that Book Page has one additional field [Parent].

To create a new Book or Book Page – click a [Create New Content -> Book] link in [Administration] menu or use the following URL: http://yoursite.com/node/add/book

Any book (as well as any page within a book) could have any number of subpages or sub levels. Book navigation block automatically reflect any changes to the book structure instantly. The posting of a new book page within an existing book is very easy. When administrator visits any book page (either Top Level, or so-called Child page), he/she will see [Add child page] link below the book page’s content. This will automatically pre-populate [Parent] field with the name of current page, but can be changed by selecting any other page from the drop-down list of existing books and book pages. If Root option was been chosen from the drop-down list of [Parent] select field, the new book will be created and the current page will be the Top Level (or Root) page for the new book. Books could be inserted into other books by simply assigning [Parent] field – changing it from [Top-level] to any other option available in drop-down menu list.  [Weight] field is used to position current page amongst the same level of other book pages. Less numbers go higher while bigger numbers sink down.
